As an interesting starting point in the film, I believe Noe presents the character from his prior work, "I Stand Alone" [the"butcher"], having a discussion with a fellow flop house tenant , unrelated to the main story.

Irreversible is a movie that I have wanted to see for a while (especially since Bangalter scored it), and there's nothing conventionally disappointing about it! Marcus's heartbreaking search for the man who savagely assaulted his girlfriend is a stunningly acted by by Cassel, seen in reverse order this film, bizarrely, leaves the viewer with one of life's most precious things - hope. As to the quality of the transfer itself, the first Blu-ray disc I received would not work in the player. Film duro, crudo, doloroso. While I can appreciate this movie's slower pacing, having those careening camera movements during moments without action just proves to work up a sickness rather than nerves, but there were times where I thought the effect was complementary, especially in between each scene transition. Dark but really human flick.

It is fundamentally about fate, how our lives can take courses that are truly irreversible over such minor actions, and it is about reality, how is pays no heed to discussion or consideration, it acts with human, reviling, gutteral emotion. ‘Irreversible’ has the most brutal rape scene in cinematic history – so why is it being presented as a feminist film?
